Just in case you missed the email, please see a copy of the sports day information below
We are delighted to be able to welcome you back to school on Friday 10th July at 10am for Sports Day.
In this letter you will find the outline of events, running order and any additional information, you may need. We are so excited to see you all and participate in Sports Day together.
The children move around in their classes and compete in their houses at each station. The children will work clockwise around each station starting after the toddler and water races at 10am.
Below is where each class will start:
Starting order:
Reception: 3-legged-race
Year 1: House relay
Year 2: Egg and spoon race
Year 3: Hula hoops
Year 4: Target throw/super shoot out
Year 5: Obstacle race
Year 6: Water race (all to watch) and then to rest stop 1
Events should take a maximum of 10 minutes, and a bell will be rung to signal the move to the next station.
It would be great if the children could continue to come to school in a coloured t-shirt to represent their house.
St Bernadette – Yellow
St Francis – Green
St Paul – Red
St Teresa – Blue
Please ensure your child comes to school wearing a hat and sun cream and brings a full named water bottle. Children will be encouraged to take water bottles round with them to all events.
Teachers and teaching assistants will be running the activities for their classes which will be adapted to be age appropriate.
When all events are completed, the children will gather on the field for a series of competitive sprint races and adults’ competition.
Each class will have a sprint race, and stickers will be awarded for the top 3 finishers.
If time allows, we may end with some parents events so make sure you’re wearing your PE kits!
We have also booked an Ice Cream Van to attend Sport’s Day this year. Each child will get an ice cream, but parents and visitors are more than welcome to buy one if they would like to. Please do not buy an ice-cream for your child before their class goes up.
When events have finished children will go inside to be registered before teachers send them back onto the field for the picnic. Parents are welcome to stay after Sports Day has finished and enjoy a picnic on the field with their children. If you cannot stay for the picnic please do not worry, teaching staff will be on hand to set up large areas for children to sit together and enjoy their lunch with their friends and other parents if they wish.
A bell will be rung to signal the end of lunch/picnic time so please do send your child in promptly to be registered for the afternoon.
Dinner choices: Only sandwich options will be provided on Friday 10th July. A picnic bag will be provided for all children in KS1 (Reception – Y2). If your child usually has a hot dinner they will be able to choose their sandwich filling on the morning of sports day but please make sure this is paid for in advance on your parent pay dinner choices. If you want to send in a packed lunch or bring a picnic for your family you are more than welcome to do this.
Could we also ask that no children play on the play equipment during the Sports Day event and picnic please.
We look forward to welcoming you all back to St Augustine’s School for another successful Sports Day.
Many thanks for your support, Mrs Anderson
